Anyone have an ETA on The Darkness that Comes Before in Mass Market Paperback in the US? I usually go by Amazon but it isn't even an option yet.

eh-hem...Scott?

Scott can say for sure, but he mentioned in another thread that none of the big houses will pick up his books for US MMP release because they're too "literary" for fantasy.....

So maybe never, although I'm starting to get pretty pissed about how hard it is for good stuff to get published (and therefore how hard it is to get one's hands on) while there's so much **** on the shelves.

Okay like Erikson and Barclay, I will order it from Amazon Canada or UK if and when it is available if it isn't yet...
Gonna check right now...

Erfael's right I'm afraid, Glelas. Our last time up to bat last autumn, everyone passed. This might change with the Publisher's Weekly double whammy: they picked it for their 'Best of 2004' list and for their 'Overlooked' list (which had my hardcover publisher, Overlook, doing cartwheels!).

Got get that in there when I can! ;)

Either way, I'm not sure what shipping the Penguin mmpbk from Amazon.ca would cost - not much I suspect. Failing that, Overlook is putting out the trade paperback version of The Darkness That Comes Before this April, which I think will run about $12-$14 with internet discounts.

If you do decide to ship it from Amazon.ca, lemme know how much it costs.

I am waiting for my Amazon.ca order (I joined it specially to get The Warrior Prophet) as it is not out in the UK for ages. Other people on the forum apparantly did this, but noone said it would take this long! I seem to be waiting forever....Anyway, it is not that expensive to ship to the UK (my wait may have something to do with the shipping method I chose.). The exchange rate is favourable to the sterling too. I bought two books including The Warrior Prophet and it came to £24 - can't remember the dollar equivalent.

I keep calling the second book The Warrior Prophet, the series title The Prince of Nothing. Sorry but I keep having a complete mind block :o

The book from Amazon.ca is about 10 US dollars before shipping. So at least 15 US dollars probably more like 17 and change I think. Makes more sense if I just buy the Hardcover and get them all in hardcover when they are released. But I just love mmpp's. I can just throw them in my pocket and whip it out whenever...err my book that is. :p

That is pricey, Glelas. The Overlook hardcovers are beautiful books, IMHO. I think I was extraordinarily lucky to find a US publisher that shares my aesthetic sensibilities.

Leiali, do let me know when it arrives - and if you don't mind - how much it cost altogether. I certainly hope the book merits all your patience and trouble!

It was much bigger than I was expecting, looks good.

I agree. The covers are unique. I have a soft spot for covers that don't have faces of characters on them. Makes them more...um...mysterious? They look great in the ol' bookcase too. Definitely worth the couple extra bucks.

I am so depressed, I still haven't received my copy of The Warrior Prophet from Amazon Canada. They are so mean :(
