I'm reading Time Will Darken It (1948) by William Maxwell.
I'd never heard of him, and I found this book while browsing at Amazon. The biblio page shows books published from 1934 to 1995. He was fiction editor for The New Yorker for thirty years.
This book has sort of a Main Street feel. I'm really liking it. There's wit and humor and some irony, and the writing is engrossing.
Do you folks have any "unknown" authors you've discovered that you'd like to recommend?
