Feist's distinctive style

It's always seemed to me that Feist has a fairly distinctive writing style as far as fantasy writers go. Most author's styles are fairly anonymous, but there is a certain pattern in Feist; a way of constructing sentences; a repetition of certain words and phrases. Perhaps I've simply read too much of his work over the years, but I reckon I'd be able to pick out his work, particularly if it was a fight scene, from amongst a selection of works by different authors.

Anyone else ever noticed this?

Yep, good point, it's something that I've not thought about but is deffinately true. This should be an interesting thread.

Currently I'm reading Magician and absolutely love it :D

Although some of his ideas can be cliche, he engages the reader nonetheless which is an unusual talent.

One particular Feist-ism that I've noticed is his tendency to start a chapter with a simple, short statement.

Pug shook his head.
Borric ducked.

I quite like this way of opening a chapter, as it makes you feel as if you are right in the middle of the events.

I've been reading a bit more and picked up on one of the lines he uses over and over:

(character) waved away the apology

I totally agree with you, i like it when an author does this, but too much can be annoying.

When you read talon of the silver hawk you notice that his writing style a has changed drastically. I think this is his "style" of writing for the eastern kingdoms. A new place and a new style. I think he knows what he is doing.
