Alright film fans, it occurs to me that we rant about great and crap films all year and yet we do not have a 'best of...' thread at the end of the year, like the SF & F book forums do...

So let's change that.

Whilst we are at it, let's have a stinker nomination too.

Here's how it works, everyone post your two top films of 2004 and your two worst... I will count up the nominations when the thread seems to have died and announce the results. (Let's not get too strict as release dates vary).

Me first:

1) Finding Neverland - Perhaps because I did not think I would enjoy it but also becuase it is a wonderful film.

2) Return of the King

1) Win a date with Tad Hamilton (don't ask)
2)The whole ten yards

Good idea not to care too much for release dates . . .

Huh, I know I am going to be hurt, but:

Lost in Translation
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
(Others were so very good, too, but honestly those were the very best in my personal movie list [seen at the theatre])

King Arthur

Really the worst would be The Card Dealer, but it is so bad that it's really funny and that makes it kind of good again. ;)

Well if we can ignore the release date, I have to say the best of 2004 is Return of the King!

But that's too easy... So here's my picks, but bear in mind I have a special weakness for epics, and I enjoy some cheesy films that many people hate.

Best (Sorry there's so many! They're roughly in order)
1 - Kill Bill vol. 2
2 - Harry Potter 3
3 - Hero
4 - The Bourne Supremacy
5 - Team America: World Police
6 - Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
7 - The Aviator
8 - The Incredibles

I Liked It, Most Hated It!
Van Helsing
King Arthur
Alexander (I'm greek and biased).

Alien vs Predator (I really wanted to like it, but let's be honest...)
Elektra (never saw it, but come on...!)
Garfield (and I'm a big garfield fan)
I, Robot (mainly because it's not true Asimov)

The Aviator
Team America

i Robot

Kill Bill vol. 2
Harry Potter 3
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
Van Helsing
King Arthur

Shaun of the Dead
Dawn of he Dead

Not bad's.

Spiderman 2

Come to think of it, 2004 sucked for decent films.

Farenheit 9/11

I didn't really watch that many films but here are the ones I enjoyed
Team America
Shrek 2
Fahrenheit 9/11
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

movies that were so-so
Passion of the Christ
Butterfly Effect
I Robot
Kill Bill 2
Bourne Supremacy
Shaun of the Dead
Meet the Fokkers

movies I totally did not enjoy
Lemony Snicket
Ocean's Twelve
The Forgotten - quite possibly the worst movie I ever watched on the big screen.

Well, I see the idea for ranking has gone out the window already! I said two best and two worst, not bloody great lists and a mid category of so so movies  :p :D

Nah that's cool, just a discussion of best and worst will do.

A date with Tad Williams? Juzzza, I am shocked!

My two favourites were:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Shaun of the Dead

Though I think Shaun came out ages ago....I don't have two bad films, I don't watch a lot at the cinema, I prefer the comfort of my own home so I get videos out more.Oops - forgot, one bad one:

King Arthur

was rubbish

Well, my little angel, I was on a 20 hour flight from New Zealand to the UK, and I had seen everything else on offer... let's just say I was able to sleep on that flight.

And as it is my thread, I cannot allow your nomination of worst film, as you are clearly mad.
