Just finished DK's Frankenstien Book#1 - prodical son,
this will be a 4-book series. Book one co-written with
Kevin J. Anderson. I was very, very pleased. Reads fast,
a few plots inter-twinning, and great "banter" between
the Male/Female detectives. DK's main web-page has
a write up and character "bio's".
Anxiously awaiting Book #2 (which is in Aug'05)
Anyone else read it.?. Comments.?

Am I the only one that was pissed off at this book? I read it in 6 hours and have to wait for the next one to come out. At least DK wil get a lot of royalties off of hardcover books b/c that's what I'm getting it in. If the next one has this big of a cliffhanger at the end, DK is getting an angry letter from me. Which will probably prompt him to end the next book with an even bigger cliffhanger than the first one.
Oh well, at leats I'll get angry writing practice.
On a lighter note: I LOVED the book.

I thought the story was a really nice departure from his usual work. Yeah, I'll stick around for part 2.

I read the first book in the series last month. Here's my two cents on it from another thread.
Overall I'd give it a thumbs up. This is my first real experience with Dean Koontz (although the book was actually written by Koontz and Kevin J. Anderson). I found the concepts intriguing and there was a lot of suspense. The characters were interesting as well, although somewhat cardboard. I really enjoyed some of the themes that came up - as if there were little flashes of insight that really got the gears turning in my head mixed in with everything else.
Unfortunately this is was book one of a series, which I was not impressed with. On reading it, I assumed that this would would conclude with more of the loose ends being tied up - with maybe one or two danglers to lead me into the next book. It turns out that nothing is really solved by the end of the first book and as I got to the last few chapters I began to think that it would be disappointing to have invested so much time in the reading without sufficient payback (as far as the conclusion goes).

I have been a fan of the Frankenstein character from the beginning, but this is definitely a fresh twist. I have read the first two two books, and can hardly wait for the next one. :)
