Sorry to bother you all, I understand everyone is tired of Jordan and Martin topics but I just need some help. Which should I read first, Jordan or Martin? I have both series at my disposal yet I have come to this crossroads. Thanks!

Depends on what type of fantasy you like more. If you like more violence and sex
go with Martin. Also remember Wot is currently nine books long while Martin is only three. So it would be faster to read Martin first.
Oh lookee I managed to answer the question without saying which one was better. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Martin.
I make thatcomment only on the basis that I enjoyed him and haven't read Jordan however...

Just need to clarify in case it has been overlooked: Martin's aSoIaF series is only three books long--so far. Then again Jordan's WoT series is nine books long--so far. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

Haven't read Martin, but I LOVE Jordan's WOT series. It seems that people either love him or rip him to shreds. At least he has a great effect on everyone who reads him.

I guess Jordan is like marmite. It's a disgusting paste that tastes foul(my opinion) but some people love it. I loved Jordan. But now I do start to wonder whether he will finish it before dying of old age... So, I reckomend martin first. You never know, Jordan might not finish, and THAT will be a huge disappointment...

I've only read the first book in Martin's series vs. the first 7 in Jordan's, but let me put it this way: in Martin's first book, it takes about 2/3 of the book to get to any of the real action; in Jordan's first book, it takes about 2 pages.
