Need help remembering book title

Recently, it has been bugging me that I cannot remember the title or author of a book I read years ago (I guess it has to be about 7 years or so). Unfortunately, I am having a horrible time searching for it. Maybe it was a popular book...maybe not. I do not even remember if it was good. The thing about it is that I really do not remember much about the storyline. I remember that there were invisible threads of magic that were all over the place, and wizards could see them (and use them). If I remember correctly, a small group was teleporting, and the spell did not work like it was supposed to, so they were accidentally teleported into a swamp. Something about a large army was probably teleporting at the same time...

Does this ring any bells with anyone? I will probably feel pretty stupid if I get an answer. :o

well, Physics, I can't help with the book title, I'm new to this realm and so am constantly amazed at all he books that others recommend, though I've read some of them like Mielville, I dont know if i've spelled that right. I guess i'm answering your post because it was just sitting there by itself but then too this situation you rdescribe in the book seems so mas more like real life, no? or so i thoght today, it's a pain having a half latin temperment and so i flared up as i usuaally do with my girlfriend mostly because i felt incompetent, typical male crap, she says, and she's probzbly right so then i was tring to right a real poem, because that was he problem, she kept saying that because there were all these other people around i was writig these half baked, half faked thigns but, well, it's not always te easiest thing to do to write a real poem, it can take most of the day, nnt to mention 9000 other hings, and so now i'm wondering if she ever gott it, or if it's stuffed in the mailbox still with all the junk mail and thee other stuff, i guess it's a commng problem, tho i realize i've been blabbing a lot and not helping at all in finding the title so i'll lshut up buena suerte in finding the title!

Threads make me think of The Chronicles of Amber by Zelazny
Heres a link to the amber series

I remember the strings of magic that have to be strummed. It may not be Amber but since I haven't read the book in a long time I dont remember. I know Corwin had to walk the pattern

I'm not sure about it being Amber, as they use the trumps to teleport, but don't have anything regarding 'magic threads'. It's still fresh in my mind as I finished them a few months back.

However, saying that, there is a chance it could be......

Physics, can you remember any other details? Some characters perhaps? If it's Amber I'll let you know....

Actually the threads bring Zelazny's Madwand to mind more. But I don't think the rest of the discription fits.

Sounds like Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan, however, I don't remember them teleporting to a swamp. I quit after the 7th book, though.

Sounds like WoT indeed. Especially the threads part, but that doesn't really start until the later books... so maybe not.

Also sounds a lot like Lawrence Watt Evans "Misbeggotten Sword" in the swamp details...

The threads part does indeed sound like WOT. However I have read al of the books and do not recall them teleporting into a swamp.

I agree with WOT too.
