New Captain Scarlet

OK: Saturday mornings here in the last few weeks have become a bit of a ritual as my sons and I have sat down to watch the new CGI version of Gerry Anderson's Captain Scarlet.

I really wasn't sure before I saw it - was it right that Gerry was going back to a series from 1967? (Old series HERE.) (http://www.tvtome.com/CaptainScarletandtheMysterons/) ) Would the scripts be worth watching? (Thoughts of Terrahawks.... shudder).

Well the answer is 'Yes'. The style is great. The vehicles are similar but upgraded. The characters are more contemporary, and there's lots of links to the old series but upgraded to the 21st century. It's hard to fit a developing story into about 25 minutes these days, but the series manages it - just.

You can tell it's costing slightly less (but not much less!) than £1m an episode.

Ah at least you have a vaild excuse to watch "MoM".

Luckly I caught the first one by total accident (was ficking over from Saturday Kitchen to see the rather nice female presenter of MoM) and have been watching them for the past few weeks. I really like it, the CGI is look good and the vehicles are very much from the Gerry Anderson the more wheels the better rule of design. According to the credits he is quite involved in it - maybe thats why its not that bad.

The episode with the green bug things attacking the Sky base was a very good.
