Annoyed: March 2009 it cost £30 to fill up my Fiat 500 with fuel. Today it cost me £46!!! Over the last 2 years I have had no pay rises, and won't be getting one this year.

I am also facing the prospect that I might not have a job in 6 months!

I now have to work till 64, not 60 to get my state pension.

The last labour government did for my private pension.

No point it trying to save, as the rates are not worth it.

During the fixing of it by Oz, we updated the version of word press and the theme. I think it looks better and I learned a lot about what I can and can't do with it.

If some one offers you any Aberdeen Angus steaks going cheap? We have cattle rustlers. I kid you not. A farm down the road had five prime beef cattle stolen last week. It used to be the Audis and BMWs from the posh new houses on the south side of the village, now it is the blooming livestock being nicked.

Edit still on going. Hard work, but I feel I have broken the back of the thing. I know what to cut out, what to re-write and what to add. Just need to get it done now and polish it.

Doing a line edit of HOG for agent, just tidying up dialogue and things like "his eyes ran over...." you get the picture ..

New work has slowed to a trickle, but never mind. it is well outlined and I have sorted out the villain's first victim....

God help me!!! I am going to vanish for a while. I need to work on this massive edit. The core of the story will remain, but massive changes will take place, and the relationships between some of the characters will change a lot. All this is not worrying me, I can do it, John believes I can do it and is excited as the result will be something we can hit the big boys with.

The biggest problem is going to be limiting ...

I have been struggling with my writing for a while. I felt as if I had lost the knack. Ok I had bursts, but never a steady flow.

But slowly I have gone back to my old ways. Shutting myself away in the fourth bedroom that is set up as a sudy and just writing, listening to music and researching when I need it.

I am sitting surrounded by books, paper, cups, dirty plates and enjoying it.

My gut told me the idea at the heart of the story was a good one, but the outline sucked, as did what had been written so far. I was waffling. Bad sign when I start to waffle.

Flash Fiction "Sabre Tooth" sold to the AlienSkin Mag. It will be in their February/March issue.

My short story "Death won't be cheated" has been rejected. It actually made it to the "editing staff," i.e the final cut, even commented on the style of writing etc... but it failed. As there was over 1000 submissions for about 10 stories in this anthology I suppose I should not feel too bad.

Snow here is a pain, especially as I can't get my feet into any walking shoes or boots at present. The looks I have gotten wearing sandals to work have been priceless... ...
