“Hello, Alistair, this is Linda Zimmerman at S.E.T.I. I’ve got the granddaddy of all signals. There are two coming from the same quadrant of space. They’re definitely not ours, but guess what? One of them’s in the neighborhood!” “What? Please tell me where they are!” Linda provided the location and waited several moments while the observatory on the other side of the planet pointed its own radio telescope to the same patch of sky. A short time later the voice came back through the ...

Unlucky/Lucky 13: Will your luck hold-out in 2013? The number 13 can mean different things to different people. In some cultures, the number is auspicious, heralding the blessings of the gods. In western culture, the opposite is true: you’re more likely to run afoul with the cosmos. Whether unlucky or lucky, that number is significant. I am looking for stories that feature the number 13. Whether that means your protagonist is 13 years old and has their ...

I've finished nearly 63,000 words out of my target 80,000 words for the first draft of Frontiers, the sequel to my recently released techno-thriller, CYBERSP@CE. This is going to be a great trilogy, culminating in a third novel, tentatively entitled, New Beginnings. I'm excited to be nearly finished with Book Two, and I have high hopes for the series! http://www.amazon.com/Cybersp-ce-Jef...s=Cybersp%40ce

So I finally got a draft of the book cover for my novel. It was a mountain scene with the river snaking forward. This has nothing to do with my book so I've asking for a new cover citing four examples from the story. So here's my question, should the cover image reflect the story in some way or am I smoking dope again?
This is an updated version of something I posted on my wordpress blog. I knew I was probably going to play with it more but I did not want to post it again their and it has been a while since I posted here. My Bones are Dry by Robert Garbin My bones are dry. The blasted sands and desiccated winds of time hollow them beyond memory of flesh. They groan with the sound of their own splintering, while abandonment whistles through their brittle ...

Hi all I posted this before on here a couple of years ago in a contest, and I've been thinking lately of lengthening it and turning it into an eBook if there was sufficient interest. Does anyone here see any redeeming value, or should the short story remain just that? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Enemies for Life: A Short Story It was the day of my final dreamscape, my last opportunity to prove myself to the Guild, my final opportunity ...
