Writing it down

Rate this Entry
I keep getting ideas for blog posts but then I don't write them down.

So I forget.

Lately I've been pretty distracted and I've started reading a whole slew of books. As a result, I've not finished a book all month. I blame Sanctuary, by Billy Faulkner for starting it. I got stalled half-way through and started something new, and then, like a gambler trying to win back losses, started another book and another and another and another.

So in the effort of outing myself, here's a list of books that I'm "reading."

City under the Sand - Jeff Mariotte
Sanctuary - Bill F.
Lamb - Christoper Moore
(before Christmas, Sanctuary is actually August).
Writing Short Fiction - Damon Knight
The Fire in Fiction - Donald Maass
The Sincerest Form - Nicholas Delbanco
Novelist's Boot Camp - somebody Stone. Todd?
The Year of Living Shamelessly -
One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest - Ken Kesey
Men and Cartoons - Jonathan Lethem

The Story er. (of the story? About the story?) - Writing group book with Stephen Dobyns in it, and a "City Codes" story that lured me in deceptively and actually isn't fiction about the building code... cheated! (It's The Story Behind the Story)

The Manual of Detection ($3.99) -
Terminate with Extreme Prejudice ($2.99)- Richard Belfield.
The Numbers Game - Michael Blastland -- didn't even notice that last name. So jealous! So perfect for a post-apocalyptic book's author name.
Forest Gate - er. Peter Akinti ($1)
Haunted - Chuck Palahniuk (yesterday)--the cover glows in the dark! So Jealous!

Well, that's what springs to mind right now.

And did I mention I have four different cups of coffee from four different places "started" in the refrigerator?

It's been a hectic month. Must be the shortness of it that throws everything off whack.

I finished one of the coffees today. Yippee! Free time.

Finished the other two, bought another, finished it. Not in sequence. Now I've got my birthday drink from Starbucks queued in the Fridge. Almost done.
