With amazing speed the Giant flicked the net in their direction and would have easily engulfed all three had not Gal Ron impulsively taken a step back. Thus the net just grazed Gal Ronís chest as it encircled and trapped Sam and Baf Ron under its weight. Gal Ron instinctively turned and ran. The Giant calmly gathered the net around the two captives and then laid his club across the net to ensure no escape was possible. He then picked up a rock that Sam estimated to be about a foot in diameter but seemed the size of a baseball in the Giantís great paw. Sam could see Gal Ron running along the riverbank for all he was worth and he looked to be a good thirty yards away. Sam thought surely he would escape and bring help!

The Giant effortlessly heaved the stone and it hurtled after Gal Ron, quickly closing the distance. Had Gal Ron looked back he may have been able to avoid the projectile but his focus was on putting as much distance between himself and this fearsome predator as possible. He was not afraid but knew that to stay and fight would be certain death and the only hope for his captured comrades was to get back to town and get help.

This was his last thought as the stone struck him between the shoulder blades, knocking the breath from his lungs and propelling him into the river.
