An excerpt from my diary, shortly after I left Gilman's Cot:

My whole life has changed. I am free of that horrible place. I am a slave of Gilman's Cot no longer.

I was rescued by a strange man. I don't know what to think of him. His name is Cadvan. Cadvan of Lirigon. And he has introduced me to a world I never knew existed. Maybe...Maybe it was the world my mother belonged in.

I have been told of lost cities, and strange people called Bards. He says I might be one. I'm not so sure. He says I am from Pellinor, a Bardic School that was sacked when I was six years old. I remember the sacking. That was when my life changed forever. When my father died. When my mother and I were sold into slavery. When my brother died alongside my father.

I wish I knew where we were going.


I remember that day well. I also remember Innail, and Silvia. I wonder if she is alright. And along with the Innail Library comes the memories of Dernhil...

I'm so glad Hem is alive. I was so glad to find out I was wrong. It is one of the few times I'm glad I was wrong!

I am so happy that I am not a slave any more. I may die in a new struggle, but at least I won't die a slave.
