Bureaucratic Frustration

Rate this Entry
No promotion this time around, just venting.

My current employment is a graduate assistantship. 20 hours a week, with a stipend of $4300 for the semester (before taxes), supposed to be paid bi-weekly.

It's now two months into the semester, and I have yet to see paycheck one.

Why is this, you ask? It's because of a work plan, which apparently needs signatures of everyone short of Jesus Christ himself to approve me to the payroll. This is AGGRAVATING because I have been living off of my savings for the time that I haven't been paid ... money which is *supposed* to pay for my next semester.

What's even more aggravating is, this shouldn't even be happening. This is my second semester working at this assistantship. Why can't the paperwork carry over from one semester to the next?

This is the reason why I hate bureaucracies of all forms. This is the reason "Brazil" was right. What's going to destroy mankind? Not nuclear war, not pestilence, not natural disaster. No.

PAPERWORK!!!!!!!!

    UPDATE!

Apparently Jesus Christ came through with His John Hancock. It's looking like I'll finally be getting a mega-sized first-check-of-the-semester next week.
