Some more good news for my book

Rate this Entry
Received some more praise from a reader how she couldn't put my book down. It was so nice to hear that it is having even limited success. When she is done she will send me a review. I only wished my publisher would make it available to stores and such. But alas I made the mistake and now I just have to plug away at my other WIPs and hope that those that have read my current book will also be reading my other works.

Just wanted to share my news.

    That's great, Pookiejmk.

But I don't understand...your publisher won't distribute? Can you break your contract?

I believe pookie signed with PublishAmerica. I thought I read that. They're a little tough to deal with and it's not that they won't distribute it, but until recently they didn't accept returns and that was a big "no" for the bookstores, and they wouldn't accept it. Not to be judgmental but PA has a poor reputation as a vanity press. Not that there aren't good books out there, just saying.

I'm not following the whole issue, but over on the Absolute Write forums there might be people who can help and there's definitely more information on that publisher. Also sfwa.(domain). Writing colleague of mine is active on AW and that's where I heard about PA first. I think they are also discussed on nanowrimo.org.

P.S. Congratulations on the positive review.

Yes, the publisher is PA (I don't even advertise this on my book's website). Checked and both Barnes and Noble and Amazon have it discounted and free shipping which puts it about what I am selling it for (I only have couple of copies left). I also am a member at AW and there is a great support team for us writers that caught in PA web of deceit. I try to get word out to everyone and anyone that will listen. Stay away from Publish America (their website looks like they are legit but they are far from it) Thanks, Brian for the Congrats. I'm in first year of 7 year contract, my only hope is that they forget about me and when I ask to get released from it in a year or two they grant the request. But it most likely will be stuck there for 7 years.
