I think the lyrics to "Winterhearted" by Xandria kind of reflect Maerad and Akan's relationship:
I was a fool for what I thought was love
And I tried my best to keep up what we had
We had a vision, no, I had a vision
And now I've to see that the vision is dead
One of us is winterhearted
One of us is cold as ice
One of us is breaking hearts
And it's not me
I was romantic, so silly and blind
I told the world that true love had a name
But all that is left now is pity and shame
One of us is winterhearted
One of us is cold as ice
One of us is breaking hearts
And it's not me (repeat)
aww.. Methinks you're right! *remembers Arkan*
anyways, check out this music! A sad tune
I think this tune fits perfectly when Maerad and Cadvan learned the news that Dernhil died. :(
So just a few weeks ago I was on a Disney/other cartoon movies that aren't Disney kick and listening to old Disney music. While I was listening to the song Once Upon A December from Anastasia I thought of Maerad and how she hardly remembers Pellinor.
Dancing bears,
Painted wings
Things I almost remember
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December
Someone holds me safe and warm
Horses prance through a silver storm
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory...
Far away, long ago
Glowing dim as an ember,
Things my heart used to know,
Once upon a December
Someone holds me safe and warm
Horses prance through a silver storm
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory...
Far away, long ago
Glowing dim as an ember,
Things my heart used to know,
Things it yearns to remember...
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December

Can't listen to the song at the moment, but the lyrics are perfect! I especially like the imagery with the horses and storm... XD

Hehe, I have had this sitting around for forever! A very nice comment inspired me to work in it a little more and post it. It's one of many (possibly that I will post) orchestral pieces meant to go with the reading of the books, specifically (in this case) The Riddle. Enjoy!
It's amazing! Does GarageBand come with harp? Because it's the closest modern relative of the lyre, and the harp needs to be used more in orchestral music! They're not in the same family, I know, but it is still closest, I think (...*Really loves the harp, but doesn't actually play it*).
Yes, it comes with 3 harps. But a lyre is a little bit different kind of harp. It's not like the orchestral harp that you would hear in, say, John Williams' music (he is fond of using it!). It's a little sharper and punchier. If you google (or search on youtube) lyres, or ancient lyres, the sound is very different from what you might expect. So I did use an instrument called an "exotic harp" and played with some filters to sharpen it. Then I added some orchestral pizzicato to emulate the plucking sound you get with the pull of each string. You can hear the way a lyre's string is plucked more than an orchestral harp. :) So it's actually closer to the sound a Sitar makes than a regular harp. But not quite as bright.
It's beautiful! Nice job.
Thanks! :)
Mmm, apparently the lyre is technically a zither instrument, unlike the harp, so I see why you had to play around with it a bit to emulate the sound. But wow, this "exotic harp" sounds pretty strange - the first time I listened I couldn't even recognise it as a harp. xP Paying attention, it sounds more similar...
Are there add-ons you can get to GarageBand? (I've never used it in my life.)
Anyway, it's brilliant!
Yeah, GarageBand has some add-ons. I think you can buy some other instruments but I'm a bit cheap/poor so I have to fiddle with what I have. I was able to find some BRILLIANT software instruments that someone recorded and made available on the web for free! Bless that person.
I sympathise. I spend all my money (when it exists) really quickly, and I don't have a credit card (I'm meant to, but my bank sucks and anyway I hate spending savings) so I can't do anything online anyway.
YAY FOR FREEWARE! :D
that would depend upon what harp you have :) orchestra/pedal harps are completely different to clarsachs (scottish harps), welsh or irish harps. I've never played pedal harp, but I have 3 clarsachs, of different styles and sounds; there's a lot of choice out there, and different styles too.
