Stopped by a B&N today, as requested by Mrs. PW, for stationary. In picking over the Bargain Priced books, I picked up four. I got a classic, a fantasy fiction novel and two sci-fi pick-ups.
The Wilding - Friedman
The Armageddon Reef - Weber
By Schism Rent Asunder - Weber
By Heresies Distressed - Weber
I think Mrs. PW needs you to shop for stationary at Office Depot, so you don't add to your to be read pile. Of course you could always wind up buying a new shiny computer or stapler if you go to Office Depot. So maybe BN is a better place to shop for stationary.
On Basilisk Station - Weber
I got Pandora's Star by Hamilton (to go with my Judas Unchained, but it'll be my christmas present) and Mass Effect: Ascension.
Gateway by Frederik Pohl - looking forward to this one.. :)
Just returned from Half-Priced Books. Went in today and spent the Christmas cash I was instructed to use for books. I picked up:
Hyperion - Simmons
The Fall of Hyperion - Simmons
Endymion - Simmons
The Rise of Endymion - Simmons
Brightness Reef - Brin
Infinity's Shore - Brin
Heaven's Reach - Brin
Chasm City - Reynolds
Redemption Ark - Reynolds
Absolution Gap - Reynolds
Also picked up some Fantasy, but that's listed over there.
I got given Watchmen (it is Sci-Fi!) and PF Hamilton's Pandora's Star.
Might actually drop everything I'm reading for it, been waiting a fair while to get a copy of it. Well, once I've finished Watchmen of course, which I'm loving :D
I just ordered books three through eight of David Weber's Honor Harrington series.
Just bought :
Alastair Reynolds - Chasm City
Alastair Reynolds - Redemption Ark
Alastair Reynolds - Absolution Gap
Alastair Reynolds - Century Rain
... and I'm planning on getting all those I'm missing!
Been a while since I last bought books, I was binging on Iain M. Banks recently but I suffered from "Banks burnout syndrome", especially after reading Revelation Space between Look to Winward and Inversions. None of the other Culture novels seem to match the sense of urgency of Consider Phlebas and Use of Weapons (and Against a Dark Background). I can see where the novels with within the Culture narrative, but there's just not enough going on.
So Reynolds, and I plan to purchase House of Suns and The Prefect and Pushing Ice..
