Dire Straits: Private Investigations
The Wake of Magellan by Savatage. It's my favorite of theirs.
Remedy Lane by Pain of Salvation.
The first time I listened to it I was stunned and simply sat silently for a few moments to let it soak in.
It's also the inspiration for my title.
Hmmm, I discovered Road Salt 1 recently at a particularly difficult time - the breakup of my marriage - and I don't think any album has ever reasonated so much with what I felt.
They are something special, that's for sure. I can't wait for Part 2 later this month.
I don't have Road Salt 1, but I want to get it. I currently have Remedy Lane, Be and Scarsick. I don't remember the title of the track, but on Be there was a track with "God's answering machine" that they set up for people to call and leave a message for god. I'm not religious at all, however I found that track to be very touching.
Currently listening to ABIII by Alter Bridge.
In The Court Of The Crimson King
Solar Fields - "Discovering"
Came across Solar Fields when he did the excellent soundtrack for Mirror's Edge. Not really my kind of music but I really like his stuff.
Now playing:
Steven Wilson's Grace for Drowning
Opeth's Heritage
Mastodon's The Hunter
All are excellent!
Yeah, looks like Heritage is causing some derision from fans too (too mellow/slow, no growls). I do need to listen to it more though (but I've had the second track "The Devil's Orchard" stuck in my head all day!)
I'm loving the Mastodon album - shorter and more straight to the point songs than CtS, but a great album.
@west & cb - a big hell ya on the new Opeth and Mastodon.
Superb albums. Love the direction taken on Opeth. Ballsy move. Kind of a fusion between the direction taken with Damnation added with a Prog Rock sensibility. The kind of album only Opeth could pull off and still, somehow, make it feel metal.
Mastodon - The Hunter has been a blast. Mastodon was on Letterman tonight. They did Curl of the Burl.
