Did you get any Fantasy books for Christmas?

I got The Runelords parts 1,2, and 3. I also got The Princess Bride in a nice hard cover from my husband. My mom got me The Chronicles of Narnia because she had heard me mention it but I already have it. I didn't have the heart to tell her. Just wondering if anyone got something they had been wanting.

Got it early (about 3 weeks ago) and opened it 'cause I was a bit excited: the Meisha Merlin hardback of the Game of Thrones. Signed by GRRM himself, and has about 100 line drawings throughout drawn specifically for the book.
Happy, happy, happy....:D

Wit'ch Star by James Clemens (looking forward to finishing the series) and Requiem for the Sun by Elizabeth Haydon.

I would love to have a signed edition of Game of Thrones, but it has to be one that I've gotten the author to sign in person. Someday I hope to put a signed copy up next to my signed Eye of the World and Scions of Shannara.

I got this cute book about 'pressed fairies' -- it's a wee tale about a girl who sees fairies and traps them in her book instead of roses. It's sweet and wonderfully inllustrated.

Talon of a Silverhawk, signed by Feist.

I'm hoping Martin and Jordan will visit Perth soon.

-First book of Dave Duncan's "a Handful of Men" series
-Memories of Ice by Steven Erikson
-Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, three-in-one volume

I didn't get any books under the tree, but I did get some bookstore giftcards. One giftcard has been converted into a nice hardback edition of The Hobbit that I've been wanting for my collection.

Someone also got me a B&N's membership card where you get 10% off of purchases. I guess I can't complain, but couldn't B&N given a 20% discount?

Beldaran December 27th, 2002 12:17 PM

I got The Dragon Prince written by Melanie Rawn
Haven't read it yet, Is it any good?

No fantasy books for me. :(

People don't dare to buy books for me, for they never know what I already have . . . so I get all the things I definitely need but never buy and order my books on my own. :)

I got Perdido Street Station which I hope is as good as everyone has been saying. I aslo got The Crystal Cave and The Hollow Hills by Mary Stewart.

I was lucky enough to get paperback copies of Stardust and American Gods by Neil Gaiman and the Gormenghast trilogy by Mervyn Peake. Now just to fine time to read! :p I've read the first two before so they're not so pressing, but very cool to have.

Guy Gavriel Kay - Lord of Emperors
Juliet McKenna - Thief's Gamble and The Assassin's Edge
Carol Berg - Restoration

I really enjoy Mary Stewart. I hope you like it too. Those two books are part of her Merlin Trilogy. You must read the third one too. Sounds like you got some good stuff.

I went high-tech this year. I put a whole bunch of stuff in my wish list with Amazon.com. My husband and his sister asked me to send them some ideas for Christmas so there is an option on the Wish List to invite friends to see it. They just ordered straight from the link I provided. I got exactly what I wanted and I had enough stuff in it that I was surprised. I had some CD's and DVD's in there too. It was nice. My mom isn't good enough with a computer to have done this but it worked well otherwise.
