ACTUALYby Bardish standards Cadvan is youngish, think about it, he's around 80 right, he's still got a 100 years or more in him..... sho that's 100 years, or more, of happy lovliness for Maerad and Cadvan
It also means that Maerad will be all alone for 80 years - 100 if women live for longer, as in our world.

Yeah, I mean, think about it. In Bard years, Cadvan, when he's awake and distressed looked only about 30ish, and when he's sleeping , he looked about 20ish, and Maerad is 16, so it's not that great a deal of difference with looks.

Look, OK, so Cadvan MAY be over 90, but as bai_xu has said, he looks a lot younger then he is. and didn't Maerad say that he looks in his 30's?? OK, maybe a LITTLE then most would want, but so what?! if she loves him, then why not??
