What do you think will happen between Maerad and Cadvan!!!

Polgara was hundreds of years older than Durnik, and that turned out well, he even became immortal so he could live with her forever, wedding pressie from the gods I think.

Araya and Laeird in The Priestess of the White also had a few hundred years between them, it could happen

i kno if said this before..somewhere..lol....but if the roles were reversed alot of ppl wouldnt have as much problems with it.....take eragon for example..BIG age difference..but a lot of ppl still want it to happen(meaning me..lol) so why cant Maerad and Cadvan happen???????????

lol, cadvan's about seventy!! That's an even more huge age difference! But I don't think it matters, if they really love each other.

And maerad is part elidhu, so she could live longer than a normal bard (ardina's ANCIENT). And Cadvan is a father figure to maerad right now, as well as a friend and teacher, but so was dernhil, and she liked him. So maerad and cadvan can totally happen!!

And in Eragon, as piglover pointed out, we don't care that Arya is like a century older than he is, because their lives are so long.

Well, at the beggining of The Gift it was mentioned that Cadvan looked like he was 35, and given the longer life span of Bards, it meant that Cadvan was an old man, although he didn't show it. But still, Maerad is a lot younger than Cadvan. And yeah, Dernhill loved her, but Maerad didn't really love him. Still, you have a point. But I'm up for Cadvan becoming sort of a father figure to Maerad.

Well, I think that Maerad could start to think of Cadvan as fatherlike(i doubt it though) ...but I don't think Cadvan thinks of Maerad as daughterlike. It's not very likely that they'll have a father - daughter relationship ,with all those moments of unguarded tenderness (rofl it's so funny how there are so many of those

)and the little moment there when they were on the boat and Cadvan said that Maerad looked like Lady Ardina. (that part was sooo cute

) Anyways those moments aren't very paternal and .......even though Maerad did say something about Cadvan being fatherish to her that was before she started to accept the truth abut her emotions and feelings and whatnot and stopped being as much of the liar that Inka-Reb told her she was.So we don't know exactly what Maerad's true feelings are toward Cadvan at the moment.And even if they don't get together like we want them to that at the very least they'll just be very, very good friends but............ arggh i have to get off now i'm not done though

I'm not sure...but I don't think anything will happen. I don't remember who, but someone said that Cadvan is more like a father figure, and I think that's true. But...he WAS the first man she trusted, though it could be that he is teaching her to trust other people. Also they kind of balance each other out...Maerad is impulsive and kind of naive and Cadvan is level-headed and experienced in basically everything. Somehow I still don't think that they'll get together though...maybe it's the journey, which seems like it might create friends more than lovers. And the age difference is a little creepy.

ohhh.. there are david eddings fans? ... Polgara and Durnik most definately belonged together...

and if any ones' read sparhawk and whats-her-name (e-something...) (its been yrs since i read some david eddings...) ... u'd know that age never gets in the way of tru love ...

also tamara pierce..... diane...and... also a few yrs...

the thing is, with cadvan and maerad, the age dif really doesnt matter, because where she lacks in the wisdom of age, she makes up for with her awe-inspiring powers... i think it balances things out btwn them.. like if she got with a younger guy, closer to her in age, there would be this big power inbalance, because she's so special, and really could some other guy really come anywhere close?

cadvan on the other hand, balances her out perfectly, because he doesn't have the power, but can help her understand and use it etc etc...

also, if maerad ended up with the ice witch there they wouldnt have a balance either, because he is greater than her in age (obviously) , but also has the upper hand in his powers etc... if u get what i mean.. and personally i think that would be a bit creepy..

.. anyway, i think the key to the realtionships you really go for, is that they seem well balanced and suited, not just right place at right time... and it just wouldnt seem right if there is someone with an obvious upper-hand in a romantic relationship... so to speak...

anyway, i'm sure i'm repeating what has already been said. really couldn't help it. i WANT THEM TO END UP TOGETHER VERY MUCH!

Heya people back AGAIN! i thought you guys hav forgotton me!

anyway, if they don't stop aging until they are 20 then cadvan would be about I don't know 50? so it's not that gross because they will live AGES anyway and they can live together FOREVER!

Cadvan looks about thirty, but he really is seventy, according to alison, and I guess she's the cheif source for stuff like this! oh, and I think alison also said somewhere in this forum that yes, maerad did really like dernhil. I never said it was love. I think that by the end of the series, they will have been through so much together that maerad will have seen so much and grown so much that age won't matter anymore.

not to mention that now-a-days people think its weird the age difference, but long time ago stories it was pretty common. and i guess it really depends how mature u are.maerad sounds pretty mature to me, experience and suffering makes you grow up, and by those standards she is mature enough. And I think that when age matters u dont feel attracted to the other person, which in this case we know she is attracted to him,after all she is jealous of nerelli. i'm new to this forum, so i may be repeating someone. anyways thats what what i think.
