I love them because everything about them is so well done =)
The characters personalities are unique and the scenes are described so thoroughly and ,of course, it's so interesting too!! LOVING Maerad+Cadvan
The covers are awesome also.. yupyup,,, sticking poems and songs in the books is a good idea

Actually, I know what you mean by 'real'.
Alison has a way of writing them that just kind of gets you right into the story and it's just kind of hard to believe that you're just reading a book with words... kinda.

    Anyone have a better explantation???

    - Likable characters with believable development
    - Fantastic prose
    -spine-tingling poems
-the landscape is so well descriped that it's easy to imagine
    -deeper philosophical questions
    - love the faux scholarship
    -original epic fantasy

There's my two cents for the moment, folks.

I Just love it for how it is!!! There's no other reason okay?

Actually, there are loadssssssssssssssss of other reasons, but I can't be bothered to type it all, because it will probably take all day... Sorry to disappoint the people out there who really wants my view...

Ooooo i can pick a fault....

    Spoiler:
When Cadvan *died* and was absent for half the Riddle, that seriously depressed me (however when the Gwalhain Pass thing happened, i was so distraught i had to go scan for his name throughout the book in case he was alive, and i was even more depressed after that and refused to read it for 6 hours untill i looked for his name again and found that they reunite at Pellinor) however i think if it didnt happen, they wouldnt appreciate each other company like they do now (cos of the dead bard thing)

I just liked them because they grabbed my attention right from the start and didn't let go. I even imported The Riddle for about twice the cover price, when you count shipping (it's not out in the U.S. yet as the U.S. version of The Gift, called The Naming over here, just came out in April).
