I like him.
I dislike him.
Help I'm being tortured. I haven't read The Singing yet. I'm in the U.S.A and my parents won't let me get it till March. It takes all my will power to stay away from Spoilers. I want The Singing cry cry![]()
haha Sadie, if i could, i'd send you my copy of the singing so you could read it
to be back on topic, if i associate Arkan with an image of Johnny Depp, i find it easier to like him
(yes, twas a weak attempt to be on topic, but alas, it is so :P)
I like him and dislike him at the same time. I'm not quite sure how to explain it, I don't think he kidnapped Maered because he only wanted the song, I think he must have felt the a little of the same way about her in the way she cared about him.
i know Ardina helped her, just not in the same way Arkan did
oh no you all read the singing already?
Arkan annoys me from what i know from the riddle.
do you already know why ardina helped maerad to escape? Ah, no donīt answer that![]()
Yeah, most of us have read the Singing (YAAAAAY!!!!!!!
)
And I think that, yes, pretty much everyone both likes and dislikes him. He's interesting, but works for his own self-interest, though that can be explained (he lives forEVER)........ he's interesting. Leave it at that. He's too complicated to try to understand completely.
yeah he's too complicated, i cannot understand him that much....
but he sometimes help her,Spoiler:
but when he prison maerad...i think he only wants to look at the half of the treesong, which is in maerad's lyre
That would be telling!![]()

i really like him actually.
but more that, i feel very sorry for him. he must be so lonely, and really, he's trying to do what he thinks is right.
admittedly, the whole killing thing was a bit cruel, but he's elidhu. to him, i'd guess humans rate along ants. and although killing ants is also to be frowned on, more people would be understanding.
and i didn't know he was bi. but it suits him in a way. i don't really know what i mean by that, but it just fits.
to be fair though, he didn't actually kill anyone, just the people who worked for him did, he just wanted maerad, no matter what!
Arkan was a very well thought out character and I think there is much about him that was never revealed in the books. He was by far my favorite character and I was a bit disappointed when he barely came back in The Singing.
