Next 10 books on your 'to-read pile'? / What's on your to-read pile? [MERGED]

I think we can include ones from the sci-fi genre as well, but posting it here will perhaps receive slightly more attention. Anyway, here's the next 10 books I hope to get through (I've numbered them, but they're not really in any order):

1) Ringworld by Larry Niven (am actually finishing it off)
2) The Iron Dragon's Daughter by Michael Swanwick
3) Behold The Man by Philip K. Dick
4) Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell
5) The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch by Philip K. Dick
6) The Forever War by Joe Haldeman
7) Jem by Frederik Pohl
8) Gateway by Frederik Pohl
9) Newton's Wake by Ken Macleod
10) Magician by Raymond E. Feist (I'm over half-way through but stopped reading a little while ago, I just need a break and then will go back to it, hopefully before christmas but time flies!)

It will probably change a little, but they're the ones I've got my eye one. Obviously it's a fair mix of both Fantasy and Sci-Fi.

Note: If you don't feel you have planned 10 books ahead, then just post 5 (or whatever you have lined up)

If I look at the structure of the pile itself, and given that my plan is to read one series, one stand alone, and one contemporary fiction then (ignoring the contemporary fiction) and working strictly on pile order it'd be:

1: Ursula Le Guin: 'The Birthday of the World' - Short story collection

2: Sean Russel: 'World Without End' & 'Sea Without a Shore'

3: Storm Constantine: 'Hermatech'

4: Allan Cole: 'Timura Trilogy'

5: Alice Borchardt: 'The Silver Wolf'

6: Anne Bishop: 'The Black Jewels Trilogy'

7: Mary Gentle: 'Ash'

8: Tom Arden: 'The Orokon' series - 5 books, could be a sixth out there, not sure

9: John M Ford: 'The Dragon Waiting'

10: Isobelle Carmody: 'Darksong' & 'Darkfall' - first 2 in The Legendsong Trilogy.

Now I know that this reading order will not follow through, but technically it should haha.

Actually, the order of this list is extremely volatile, pending the release of Feast4Crowz (holla) and whenver I actually pick up that Lovecraft LOA book. And the Moorcock books could really come at anytime. I could read Von Bek right after EC if I'm into it enough.

EDIT: Severn, I'm in the middle of Russell's Moontide & Magic Rise and am very impressed with it. I would be interested to know what you think.

Well since that probably is the series I will read next as I've had it for over a year now (pile keeps growing: tis a shame the bank account acceleration rate doesn't match that of book pile(s) ). I'll let you know. Looks good and I've heard positive things here about it too.

I actually can contribute a list this time, thanks ever so much to my parents who have given the best birthday present ever! A book for each year...

Anyway my ten are:
1) Always Forever by Mark Chadbourn.
2) The Shadows and the Light by Anne Bishop.
3) World's End by Mark Chadbourn.
4) Neverwhere by Neil Gaimen.
5) Anansi Boys by Neil Gaimen.
6) The World of Dark Crystal by Brian Froud (not technically fantasy even if it looks like it!)
7) The Sea without Shore by Sean Russell. (This will probably be next as I have just finished World Without End)
8) Easter 1916 by Tim Pat Coogan, (research...)
9) The Cry of the Newborn by James Barclay.
10) Medallion by Jennifer Fallon.

2 China Mieville- Perdido Street Station(really must get round to reading this soon)
3 H. P. Lovecraft- Dream Quest of Unknown-Kadath, Loved Dead, The Tomb
4 Clark Ashton Smith- Sword of Zagan, The Black Diamonds
5 Barbara Hambly- Sisters of the Raven
6 M. John Harrison- Viriconium(Fantasy Masterworks)
7 Patricia A. McKillip- Riddle Master's Game(Fantasy Masterworks)
8 Leigh Brackett- Sea-Kings of Mars(Fantasy Masterworks) did make a start on this.
9 Harry Turtledove- Wisdom of the Fox
10 Pamela Sargent- The Golden Space, Cloned Lives(must read these soon, had them over 2 years now)
Also loads of Penguin classics inc. Dostoyevsky, Shelley, Stoker, Verne & Stevenson plus many historical novels interspersed now and then.

5. Vellum - Hal Duncan
6. The Warrior Prophet - R. Scott Bakker

After that, don't know yet. I'm afraid I have a few shelves of unread books, too! But as you can see, the first three books I plan on reading after Cherryh's Fortress of Dragons - which I've just started on - haven't been published yet. So my current to-read pile is not going to diminish much, the next few months

Severn: I just finished reading the 1st book of the Orokon and the thing it most reminded me of was Susannah Clarke's Jonathan Strange (but less on the prose). It was fascinating but really slow pacing. Unfortunately, the bookshop doesn't have the 2nd book so am averse at getting the rest. (And I think there are only 5 total.)

Homer: Heh why am I thinking that you didn't have Eddison's book at hand at the moment, hence the title?
