ALSO did anyone find the bit in the Gift when Maerad got her period immensely amusing?
Yes I thought it was funny too, but it was also an important part of the story. After all, there's so much fantasy out there that conveniently ignores the fact that women get periods (perhaps because traditionally, fantasy is cocnerned with male adventures and male authors?). Apart from tamora pierce's books, i can't think of any other fantasy novels that deal with this fact of life (there are probably others but i either haven't read or come across them). And rather than continuing the old line about periods being "dirty" and a "curse", Alison has turned it into an empowering thing, which i think is good.
Besides that, my favourite bit of the series would be when

, or maybe the very start of The Gift, when Maerad senses Cadvan's presence and they meet for the first time. I can see that scene so clearly.
