I think there is already a favourite pellinor quote thread but anyway my favourite quote though it's not strictly about writing is-

'Those who don't believe in magic will never find it'- Ronald Dahl.

*coughs* I found this quote by Alison on one of my wanderings in the wider forums which I liked very much. Hope you don't mind me posting it here, Alison:

"Writing seems to me very often a question of faith, of staying true to that little flame no matter what threatens to blow it out."

whoa, didn't see that it's really good...I don't think I could ever make good quotes if I was famous or a writer or whatevah

"I'm not going to make movies that tell children 'You should despair and run away.'"- Hayao Miyazaki

I'm sorry this guy is my idol

This quote is very important, I think, not alot of people these days think this way, in fact, very little. There is no problem with stories that are sad, they have a certain purpose that is equally as important as a happy story. But where have all the happy stories gone? Most fantasy/sci fi books out there these days (except for those classics) are about hardship and grief and suffering, which I say again is not a bad thing, but there aren't any happy ones!!! please inform me if you think you know of one!

And he is right in saying this, movies these days are alot sadder and more veil than they used to be

Miyazaki is the best, i love all his movies, I can't remember the last story i read that was happy or even had a happy ending (the ending of the Farseer is a good example of an unhappy ending)

For years i have been an amateur(very amateur) ufologist/paranormal investigator so another of my favourite quotes is-

'The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science'- Albert Einstein

Miyazaki is amazing. It's very true that there is human suffering in this world, and reading about grief and pain and despair will move us -- but move us to do what? Do they move us to give up on our doomed world, or move us to face our problems and fix them? There are good reasons for having happy, or at least hopeful, endings.

yeees, yeees. *roominates* This is very off topic but one very good movie that is not sad (here I go correcting myself ) is Napoleon Dynamite. It is a very funny movie, yes, but I think it is also about happy endings, especially for social outcasts. It's weird, there is always that one time for the loser to shine, I've seen it before. It's moving, in a way.

"Tina! Come and eat your ham!" -Napoleon Dynamite

sorry very uninspirational but I thought that was just so funny.

I've got a list I made a while ago. Most of it got deleted, but I've still got some. My favorites are in bold. [There's a lot, so be warned!]

I'm just copy-pasting from Word so don't blame me if it looks weird! I do my best!
