Whats in a name?
What is in a name….
I have been thinking about a new children’s book idea to work on my four months off college, and I need a funny character name. A name that gets teased a lot. Preferably, a girl’s name, for example…Bertha smelly. I thought I would ask the members here for funny names…who knows this could be fun.
Thanks Liondancer

You should probably take this to the main forums. I suspect you'll get some good suggestions there. Of course, you can leave it here as well and see what happens.

I think a child named Humble Butt would be teased a lot.

A boy's name Harry Box,

I actually knew a girl named Ima Hooker. she was the daugther of a preacher. Also there is a grocery chain called HEB named after Henery Edward Butts.
My grandmother got prank calls a the time from kids asking if she was a dill or sour pickle. She would chuckle and reply that she was a sweet one and hang up

It always amazed me that Smuckers Jelly never changed the name. They turned it into a slogan instead. With a name like that it has to be good.
Names bestow character too frequently. We assume so much by virtue of a name. I have a friend who named his son Heathcliff. It's a new born, a tiny baby. Whenever I think about him, I think of dark, broody places and Lawrence Olivier's wavy locks. He's a bald, bright skinned baby!

I'm a writer also and one book I'm writing is a Sci Fi comedy. Using names I find is an easy way to generate laughs. I have 4 major races the Genera, Felini, the De Mocks, and the Accurians.I use part of the racial name and another name to make a character's name Example
The alien leader is Gen Singh
His daugther is the ship's doctor her name is Atillia, Put Gen in front of it. Want to guess if our Hero Buck tells her what her name means on Earth especially when he's about to be given a physical exam by her.
There's a pilot names Acc Turnal and a female crew member named Acc Celerator. A feline female crew member named Fel Ony.
For De Mock's we have Moc David, Moc Oson, Moc Odin.
The ship they travel millions of light years in is called the 131377 Piide of Singh. They affecinately call it POS.
Funny how a name or word is serious for 1 race of people & amusing in another.
