    Nostalgic query: Mercury story

Back in the sixties I read a story about Mercury that has stayed with me: a space ship has made a forced landing on Mercury in the "twilight" zone (written before Mercury was found to rotate) and the occupants have taken refuge in a cave. It's found that lifespans are so accelerated that people are born, live and die in the span of a few days.

Many generations later a young man is determined to try what many before have tried, and failed: run back to the spaceship in the short span of time between subzero predawn and roasting sunrise. That's the setup of the story.

    Anyone recognize this one?
