User Name Flash Fiction Contest
A number of months ago (it would have been Oct.) we had a little unofficial flash fiction writing contest. It was fun. It ended in a three way tie.
So, let's go again.
Let's add a B5 twist.
the User Name Flash Fiction Contest
Genre: whatever you like
Word count: 1000 words or less
How to submit: You need to have set up your Community account. Put in the summary that it's an entry for "the User Name Flash Fiction contest" and post a link to the story in this thread. After all the submissions are in I will post a voting thread with all the links for people to vote and offer feedback.
Entry/submission due date: Feb. 5th, that's in 12 days. If you write 83.3 words a day, you'll just make it.
Prize: Practice writing, a chance for meaningful feedback, and bragging rights.
The twist: Just for fun, your story must include your user name-- (For example, my story would have some mention of a MrBF1V3--who is not necessarily me.) it can be as character, setting or, well ... use your imagination. You know you chose that handle for a reason.
**Remember - If you submit your story here you cannot submit it to FlashSpec.**
Good luck, go write,
B5
Also, I intend to enter this contest, and actually have my first sentence. If the general consensus is that it is unfair, I will not put my story to the vote.

It's Radthorne's fault.

Hey, am I supposed to read the rules, too?
Missed that part; thanks, J. Fixed it.

Well it all depends on what you mean.
Actually no it doesn't, whatever you mean you are missing something. HE didn't have his username in the story when I first read it, he has since added it in.
And if you are meaning where is mine...
It is there, I just hid it.

I read the first version of HEs story. It was in first person ...
and he did have his eye on that girl.
But also, a nice save just the same.
If the idea is to include your user name in the most clever way possible, I might have to rethink my story.
So far so good.

Well bearing in mind that Jacquin was one of Sue's characters originally I wasn't going to use it as a name...
Though I admit hiding it in an improbable list of ingredients is a little odd.

... well, I did say use your imagination. If I weren't surrounded by so many creative and intelligent people I bet I'd really stand out.
On the other hand, making my user name more subtle has saved wear and tear on my poor little spell checker. Still working.
Also, Good luck with that Holbrook. How can a publisher not be impressed?

Still working???
That's not fair! Isn't actually thinking about it and editing cheating?
