I don't remember that in the rules. I must edit, readers like complete sentences, and "the" spelled correctly. --- Thinking on the other hand ...
Anyway, here's mine:

The more the merrier.
I told my wife we were having a username flash fiction contest, and after I explained what that was, she said, "What kind of idiot came up with that idea?"

Well, I'm a real convert to the usefulness of flash fiction as a creative exercise after my experience with FlashSpec. It's a lot harder than it sounds, and it's a lot harder to write good flash than it seems at first.
That being said, sorry I just don't have the time to generate anything good for this contest, but I will happily cast my vote.

2 cents and 1000 words.
Hello folks. Been sticking my head around here for awhile now but never really talk. Don't know why really. Anyway, here is my submission.
L8R.
Mr. Jims.

Welcome MrJims, you picked a good time to jump in. Of course, now that we know you, you can feel free to comment.
Yes, 1000 words isn't as easy as it sounds, writing flash builds brevity, and makes you use your words to their best effect.

Does it have to be a new creation? I've got about a 1,000 word passage from my first manuscript that fits the username requirement quite naturally, as my username is based on a song and I was listening to this song on repeat while writing most of the passage for the first draft. However, that was a few years ago.
In any case, it's a nice excuse to bring out the old gal for an edit.

--Since there is nothing but a bit of recognition at stake, I don't think we have room to be sticky about rules. For my part, I have no objection.
I look forward to reading your TheGhost story.

All right. I'll play.

As my previous message indicates, this is not flash fiction, but an excerpt from my first manuscript. I was compelled by the user name angle to put it out there, and it's always nice to bring out the old stuff for a cleaning.
The title (the title of a song, not the title of the chapter or the manuscript) is where my user name comes from. You get two points if you know the artist without looking it up.

I will be starting a polling thread tomorrow about this time.
At this time we have four pretty good stories and mine involved in our friendly user name flash contest. Kudos to all, thanks for joining in.
Last call....
