    Best (not scariest) Steven King

As the title says, I'm looking for the best, not scarriest. Personally, from what I've read, my fav. is The Stand.

I'm gonna say that The Stand is his best. The story is epic. The characterization is amazing... and 15 years after first reading it, I still talk about the plot and characters (as if they were real people). Its fun to go on vacation and picture what the areas would look like after Captain Tripps hit.

No: that's The Shining, I think. The hotel is called The Overlook.

I had to vote for The Talisman cause I've read that one the most. But although I've only read It one time it's the one that I remember the most. (It is the best monster with several others like Mr Grey and The Man In Black.)
If I could have voted for The Gunslinger then I would have voted for that one.

The Talisman is a perfect mix of everything that I like. Paralell worlds and monsters. Straub's makes it all a little darker and there we are.
(Sorry for the misspellings that you may find.)

If you like King you'll like his short fiction.

The Stand is about a virus that wipes out almost everyone. Then the survivors join forces to fight a great evil.

My favourite would have to be The Stand.
On the matter of his short fiction, I'd have to disagree.
I love his novels but hate his stories.
I'm not 100% sure why. I like how he builds up his characters and plots in his novels. He dosen't have enough space to do that in short stories.

"The Stand" has always been my personal favorite. But I really thought "It" and "Salem's Lot" were awesome too.

Well my first vote was for The Dark Tower, but then I realized I stopped reading it several years ago when I had to wait a decade between books (I have a 1st edition Gunslinger I bought NEW)....

So I voted for The Stand. I have 5 copies at home as it is the wife's favorite King book and one that you can read over and over again. Despite the fact it is HUGE!!!!!!!

    Least favorite: It

I voted for IT as I love the childhood story part. I went to school with the same kids, and I was Ben.

The Stand uncut comes a very, very close second.

I personally like the original much more; the uncut drags in my eyes.

Nah, personally I think that more details is good for the book.

That's what I liked about the uncut version of The Stand. It seemed to flow so much better and added more to the journey. I liked the ending, too, as it leaves it open for a possible rematch
