Looking for book
Hi!
Yesterday someone briefly told me about a book (or books) called Trip...something, by Steve/Steven/Stephen Something... I think Trip* was a SciFi story set in the the 17/18th century, or maybe the 17th century story was a book/books written by the same author as Trip*. A long shot I know - but does that ring a bell for anyone?

Well, Neal Stephenson wrote a trilogy set in the 17th and 18th centuries, with a decidedly science fictional mindset (although they could be read as straight historical fiction). They are Quicksilver, The Confusion and The System of the World and collectively they are known as the Baroque Cycle.
So that fits all the criteria except Trip*

There's three Doctor Who short story collections in paperback called Short Trips, More Short Trips & Short Trips and Side Steps by Stephen Cole (and Jacqueline Rayner for the last). This I think is your most likely candidate.
Or Stephen Baxter's Mayflower II about a generation ship.

Hi!
Thank you, Neal Stephenson was right! The book title I heard as Trip something, was Cryptonomicon (1 and 2).
Communities are great.
