But, with the way they change around everything in the movies it isnt too bad with the spoilers, most of the time

True and it's just irritating. Although, it's to make a good movie.

Its too bad that they wont make movies longer then they could include the subplots and such.. but I have a hard time imagining that anyone other than someone who had read the book would sit through it... if that makes sense

The best example of that is Twilight. Shudders, I really hate those girls.

Hey, I love the Twilight books. The movies are pretty cool. It's the stupid girls who don't read the books and only watch the movies to look at the hot guys. My brother only went to see Twilight and New Moon just so he could be surrounded by those girls. lol

Just to say that in the past we have tried to avoid Twilight in this thread, because there are so very strong, differing opinions here that arguments between them usually end in repetitive and unpleasant conflict.

So, you can talk about it of course, if you want to, but having seen what the past discussions ended up as I personally wouldn't recommend it.

Anyway, I'm reading leviathan, by Scott Westerfeld,, right now. It's pretty good - a steampunkish alternate history book.

Yeah, it is. I haven't read any further besides those first few pages, but I'm pretty sure I'll like it.

Honestly, the Da Vinci code isn't amazing by any means. The only reason it's so popular is because it's controversial. Personally, I think it's decent, although just because
    Spoiler:
Leonardo da Vinci thinks that Jesus had children with Mary of Magdelene and even made a painting about it DOESN'T MAKE IT TRUE... It's not like Leonardo da Vinci is all-knowing, just because he's an artistic genius. Does that make any sense? It's just the books are based off of this whole conspiracy thing being true, when there's nothing definitive to say that it is.
As for my religious views, I'm sensible enough to separate entertainment from reality. I'm pretty sure Dan Brown was just trying to tell a good story, not diss the Catholic church. And I could care less, since my religious views are being formulated still and I'm far from set in my religion.

Also, IMO, Angels & Demons > Da Vinci Code. By a long shot.

And Sirkana-- What does "steampunk" connotate? I've heard the word before and all I know is that it means people putting metal parts on their body or something weird like that... and somehow I doubt that that's what the book genre is focused on...

    I.e.

steampunk is a genre within fantasy that contains a more victorian society and technology instead of the traditional medieval setting. Soo y'know... there are machines and such...

A good example might be Perdido Street Station by China Mievelle, which is rather weird but rather awesome too.
