As he stared out the window, past the tree line, he couldn’t help but reflect upon, with vague curiosity, as to the circumstances that led to him being here. It was at this moment, the strange moment; he was able to think with a certain clarity that had always been his solace in his early years. When he was in this state it was as if time had stopped and all that mattered was the thought which would eventually take over his entire being, if he let it. He had learned at an early age how to use this state to his advantage, if only from necessity.

I had to write a short piece of prose for my exam folio.. the first 24 words were:

Cold. Dark. Wet. Alone. Initially this was all I could garner from my current situation. Gradually, as my disorientation faded, other details became apparent.
