Just a quick check: As it is a New Year, and the last thread was 1700 posts long, (not to mention nearly 5 years old!) I thought it was time for a new one.
(The old thread is HERE, but now closed.)
Here's where new people can introduce themselves and say 'Hi' (as the thread title says!)
Hello everyone!

Hylo!
Hey everybody!
Been meaning to sign up to the forums for a while, bout time I did so!
I'm from South Wales, UK and I'm mainly a fantasy guy (usually involving anything vampiric
).
I'm really looking forward to reading the stuff on here as well as putting my own work up for critique.
See ya around!

Hello all,
I'm freshly made joinee, living in Madrid after leaving Yorkshire behind last summer but I haven't abandoned my love of sf and horror. I still don't speak much Spanish sadly... I'm self employed and write in my spare time, in the faint hope that these two things can become one in a glorious future of my own making.
Until then, I'm jobbing it. Hasta mañana!

Hello all, or perhaps I should say hello again. I’m actually an (extremely!) sporadic poster, having posted here some six months ago, as well as some ten years ago (as BehemothCat – password lost in the mists of time). Despite the best of intentions, I haven’t been able to stick with things very consistently – perhaps this time. Anyhow, I’ve been reading SFF for many years, having cut my teeth on the likes of Tolkien, etc., then encountering the transformative Ballantine Adult Fantasy series (William Morris, Lord Dunsany, James Branch Cabell, Clarke Ashton Smith, etc.) – thus ruining me for life with “ordinary” fantasy.

While in college (1970s), I worked at the iconic A Change of Hobbit bookstore (Westwood, LA). It was a terrific experience. I was able to meet/mingle with the great authors of the day (Niven, Ellison, Silverburg, Benford, etc.), but, really, the best experiences were working with the store owner/employees/sig others – Sherry (owner – steely, bittersweet Hobbitch), Lydia (manager – later, owner of Dangerous Visions), Art (Lydia’s sig other, great hair, great author), Corey (boo-hiss – thief).
I’ve been reading SFF ever since – (some 2,500 SFF books?), but, for many years, I’ve been increasingly trending away from ho-hum-standard SFF and more towards the literary end of SFF.
I’d love to hear any A Change of Hobbit/ Dangerous Visions stories that posters might have.

Hi. I've been a big reader forever (yes, even before I was born) and I'm getting into writing more now. I'm mostly into the more main-stream fantasy. Grew up with the classics. Not as much into melds of fantasy with SF or Urban, but maybe I just haven't picked up the right book.
