I don't get the feeling that anyone is tying it into the delay itself, but rather, the attitude that people have developed to make rather strong and personal statement pointed at GRRM for the delays (I am not talking about anyone here, just the well known type of attacks that have been made in general).
The delays have every right to aggravate a consumer. The best way to handle that is to boycott the product. The inappropriate way is to be immature and make personal attacks. Especially if said person that is being attacked is a decent guy.

Alright folks, it seems we need to do this every few pages...
Stop calling the man fat and an arse. There's no need for it.

Seriously, does anyone have confidence that the series is ever going to be finished? It seems that the last given estimate was that he wrote 1,400 manuscript pages. This was about 6 months ago, how long does it take to finish up if you already have 1,400 pages written? And if he's having this much trouble wrapping up 100 pages, give or take, then what are the chances of him even wanting to write the rest of the books?

Well, if you believe what he's said, and he's given us many reasons NOT to, then he's already put some chapters in the NEXT book, after ADWD. The Winds of Winter or whatever it is.
I used to be an absolute prophet for ASOIAF, even after the AFFC travesty. Now, I'm the opposite. I tell everyone to stay away from the series. Seriously. There's no reason to push people towards a series that looks to never be finished. Over TEN years since we are left with the Tyrion, Dany, Jon cliffhangers. That's unacceptable.
Oh I know, I know. Time in front of the typewriter does not equal pages written. I'm quite sure when he's hanging around the sets of this dumb series (those of us who have read the books are going to hate it, guaranteed) and going to every little Scificon in any little scandanavian country that he is in fact working this stuff out and being ultra-productive on the half-decade delayed book. I used to try the same thing with my mom when I was little and had an English paper or something to write. "Mom, I can think about it while I'm playing baseball at the park! And then it'll be easy to write later!" Yeah, my mom didn't buy it, and neither do I.
I believe the book series is screwed if the HBO series takes off. It seems he is completely enamored with being back in television. I mean, didn't he only write ASOIAF once he was cancelled from television to begin with? It may be his true love, over writing. Now he's back in tv, and bye-bye books. Too bad, he's a great writer.

I do apologize if something similar has already been posted in this thread, but I just couldn't resist.

Ya I read the first two and enjoyed them, but will not be continuing until the one after ADWD is out... If that ever happens... Too many unfinished series on my plate. dont wanna add another... Even WOT is getting finished, cant say the same for ASOIAF

Dude, if you read the first two, you might as well read the third,Storm of Swords, as it's considered the best and it gives probably the most plot resolution out of the four books. Just avoid threads about the series if you're not spoiled yet.
Nevermind, if you can walk away now without obsessing or raging like a lot of us, Do It.
