Picked up six new/used books over the holidays; many of chosen due to what I've seen recommended here:

    Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson
    Tripoint by CJ Cherryh
The Player of Games by Iain M. Banks
Tears of the Sun by SM Stirling
Angels of Vengence by John Birmingham
Old Man's War by John Scalzi

My TBR pile continues to grow!

Just thought I would share my Christmas book haul with everybody:

    Equal Rites by Terry Pratchett
The Gormenghast Trilogy by Mervyn Peake
Foundation, Foundation and Empire, Second Foundation by Isaac Asimov
Infinity's Shore and Heaven's Reach by David Brin
Tales of the Dying Earth (Fantasy Masterworks edition) by Jack Vance
The Book of the New Sun, Volume 2(Fantasy Masterworks edition) by Gene Wolfe (I ordered volume 1 but received the second volume instead. Oh well, I'll just have to go and order the first one now )
The Quantum Thief by Hannu Rajaniemi

I hope you all got some exciting books to keep you entertained in the New Year!

Edge of Infinity edited by Jonathan Strahan. Paul Weimer's review at SFSignal and Carl's review at Stainless Steel Droppings put me over the edge on my decision to buy it.

Just one for now. I picked up Niven's Ringworld last weekend from a discount/remaindered book store.

    Altered Carbon - Richard Morgan

Really enjoying this so far. Bought off the back of a shelf-side recommendation from another browsing customer who had read a lot more sci-fi than me. He also tried to persuade me to buy The Blade Itself by Abercrombie but the first few pages compared with AC didn't seem as good - a poor way to choose perhaps but there could be only one! I also feel tired of Fantasy having read so much when I was younger - but that's another story - for now AC is really good fun.

You still should check out the Abercrombie. It's rather good.
