I actually stopped reading fantasy for awhile cause my brother (big sports dude) used to yell at me for reading it. When I got back into fantasy years later I used to try to hide it. I'd read Tolstoy or Dumas in public and had Jordan safely tucked away at home. I thought all people thought like my brother.

When I got to college though I found other people shared my interest. I found more and more *gasp* women actually read fantasy. So I became more open about my reading preferences. I'm no longer embarrassed about it and even my brother no longer makes his snide comments. Turns out sibling rivalry takes a huge nosedive after you both turn 20. We have an unspoken agreement. He doesn't make fun of my reading preferences and I don't mention that he enjoys watching cars drive around in circles for hours.
