The Desert Spear by Peter V. Brett. Got about halfway through after buying it yesterday--absolutely fantastic so far.
Got Deadhouse Gates by Erikson near-mint condition hardcover at a used bookstore for $1.50!
The Immortal Prince by Jennifer Fallon, also used at a bookstore, near-mint hardcover for $3!
Also picked up some good condition Raymond Feist novels, including the entire set of the Riftwar Legacy and two of the Demonwar Saga books, for a total of $7.
    Got a good haul yesterday.

Hopefully arriving soon in the mail:
Fugitives of Chaos, John C. Wright - Thought the first was pretty terrible, but this was so cheap it's not a costly experiment to confirm my days of reading Wright are over.
Best Served Cold, Joe Abercrombie - Was a bit "Meh" after the final book of his first series, so have been quite reluctant to pick this up. Cheapness was again a key factor.
    Sky Coyote, Kage Baker
The Looking Glass Wars, Frank Beddor
Grave Peril, Jim Butcher - Saw enough promise in the 2nd to keep going.
One Hundred Years of Solitude, Gabriel Garcia Marquez - Realised I had a copy of this about 5 minutes after ordering. There goes the 10% discount.
    The Red Tree, Shaun Tan
    Tamsin, Peter S. Beagle
Disciple of the Dog, Scott Bakker
    Food Rules, Michael Pollan
The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, Oliver Sacks

Over the Labor Day weekend, I visited a couple of bookstores, one of them a very good used bookstore:

Ghosts of Manhattan by George Mann
The Manual of Detection by Jedediah Barry
    Dreadful Skin by Cherie Priest
The Loving Dead by Amelia Beamer
The Bones Wizard by Alan Ryan (story col.)
The Talking Man by Terry Bisson
The Pet by Charles L. Grant
Stories of Darkness and Dread by Joseph Payne Brennan (story col.)

The Beamer and the Grant are possible reads for October.

If I'm smart, I'll stay out of bookstores for a few weeks and let my wallet recuperate.

Just ordered Lamentation by Ken Scholes. Was tempted to buy the $5 HB on amazon but instead got the PB from Book Depo for the same price cause of free shipping. Would have got the Kindle edition but it's not available to Aus buyers. I hate this BS!

    Just ordered from Amazon.com:

    Lord Foul's Bane
    Vellum

...as if I don't have enough books in my to read pile. It's been a good four months since I ordered any new books, so I was suddenly beginning to feel an itch to do so.

The only book I've bought purely on the name alone.

I, too, would buy such a title. These seven words are a spotlight on a very twisted mind. I like it.
