What am I doing right now?

Cowering from the most ridiculous thunderstorm I have ever seen in England. The windowframes are literally rattling with each thunderbolt, the street is already about half an inch deep in rainwater, and hail the size of peas is hitting so hard it's bouncing a foot off the floor. We shall all surely die.

It's hard to believe in just the last two days, the response my book has gotten as far as sales and rank. My commercial publisher couldn't even do this in 18 months. I'll never ridicule a self-published author again. This dinosaur is now one of their members.

    It's promo time again.

Finished Mass Effect 3 and trying to shake off the feeling that I've just seen a thermal clip on the floor out of the corner of my eye. Anyone else get that? After an intense playing session?

After I first started spending a lot of time in Second Life (I'm cured now) it used to puzzle me that people on the High Street didn't have their Name and status floating over their heads in easy to read bubbles.

    Same old sameold

A little web surfing, a little tweaking software, check out a few cartoon sites, comic strips, dirty joke sites, read a book or two, listen to a little music, watch a movie, visit here or one of half a dozen forums... I know that retirement is not for everyone (have friends who went back to work after a few months trying to run their own schedule) but it is working well for me. Keep paying into that Social Security guys.

    Issuing a warning:

Don't play water pistols with a staffordshire bull terrier that likes water. I'm now nursing a cracked thumbnail due to not getting my fingers out of the way quick enough.

Ouch! And I thought my bruised/pulled nail from work was bad.

Just finished up about five Textbroker articles in the past two days, which is quite amazing for me since there's little work to do there. Money in the bank is great--from writing--it's amazing.

Off to edit my recent YA distopian, from comments that I got from some very big NYC editors. In this instance, they were right and I over-looked some things. Then its onto the never-ending promo trail for three books up on Amazon. Sheese.

Pondering the stupidity of hesitating to download a FREE ebook from the kindle store. I mean... it's free. If I don't like it I can delete it. I don't lose anything. Why do I wonder if it's going to be any good? I can download a hundred free books and throw away all of them.

    Weird.

Chilling out at the start of two weeks leave from work. Spending time with my wife, gardening, decorating, general domestic maintenance, drinking too much and hopefully getting some proper writing done all await. Lovely!

Typing this post, while listening to my wife talk to her sister on the phone. I am ready to run an errand to pick up some art supplies, but will patiently wait for my wife to get off the phone in case she wants to tag along. I'm a thoughtful and wonderful husband, wouldn't you agree?

Nearing the half-way point of the aforesaid two weeks leave from work. Progress so far:

Spending time with my wife - roaring success.

    Gardening - success.

Decorating - meh, there's always next week.

    General domestic maintenance - completed.

    Drinking too much - overachieved

Hopefully getting some proper writing done - ah bugger....
