I liked it, especially the the ending where the guy grows some balls and gets into a alien battle suit and really kicks ass.

Lord of the Wild Hunt
Just seen it. I could elaborate, but in short I thought it started somewhat curiosuly and ended up being a very good film. Very impressive.
I didn't like Wikus at all, very unsympathetic and hard to respect. I would have liked more information on the aliens, how they came here, why, what their home world is like, what their bio set up is like, if they are all intelligent, how their society is set up. None of that is given attention which loses the film points for me, but that is pretty much my only criticism. I thought it was well done.
Totally agree with Rob and Evil Agent on the disastrous summer blockbuster season. Seeing District 9 I was reminded once again how poorly Michael Bay has handled the Transformers, what enormous potential the Transformers films had and how magnificently he squandered and diminished every single bit about them. The second film this summer was perhaps even worse than the first one, which was already catastrophically poor.
Public enemies? Crap. Wolverine? Not bad but not that special. GI Joe? Terrible, as expected. Harry Potter? I could not believe how plain boring and yawn inducing this film was. Terrible film.
On the other hand I thought Terminator 4 was pretty decent. Not that bad at all, not worse than the 3rd one I thought, just not a patch on the second one.

One of the best sci-fi stories I have seen on screen in several years. It's more like an intelligent book than a typical blockbuster movie. Let's hope it was not a fluke and that Neil Blomkamp and Peter Jackson has more up their sleeves for us.
