Hello! I was wondering if anyone had any suggestion for SF books that feature examples of how interstellar cargo is handled and shipped. I know there's some pretty good stuff in the early Vorkosigan Saga novels and, If I remember correctly, the Foster Humanx books. Just looking for some more examples...books with smugglers/smuggling are also welcome. Thanks for your help!

I don't recall the Vorkosigan or Flinx novels having much to do with freight shipping but I will suggest 'Queen of Denial' by Selina Rosen and 'Take Back Plenty' by Colin Greenland.

Go C.J. Cherryh for this one. Specifically Merchanter's Luck, Tripoint, Finity End. Any of her 'Merchanter' novels go into great detail about the society of long distance, long time interstellar trade.
Vernor Vinge's A Deepness In The Sky also has some stuff about interstellar 'caravans' but it's not the main focus of the story.
The entire 'interstellar trader nomad' thing is also dealt with in Heinlein's YA novel 'Citizen of the Galaxy'.
But really, Cherryh is the way to go.

Or Andre Norton's Free Trader series maybe.
