EditThis.info looked interesting. However, I've got to say that I like the Wikia format better. World of Warcraft uses Wikia and the setup that they've got on there looks very interesting. Would allow for us to have numerous categories, multiple sub-categories, each with their own page. Creating a world, we could do things like multiple races, nations, religions, societies, technologies, systems of magic...a ton of stuff. There is also room for short stories, for each contributor to have their own page...
In think it could be a good site for what we want. However, now that I look at what it actually says in the table you linked to, it looks like we will have issues when it comes to it being openly editable and nothing private and nothing we can exclude or stop anyone from contributing to. So, maybe not.
What do you think? Any on that link that you like more than the others?
Arrrgggghhhh, so many choices!
A number of them do offer private wikis. I would like to find one that also has a public-viewable About page. So far, I can't decide.![]()
Well, knowing that you are looking for a public About page is helpful. Are there any other specific elements you are looking for the site to have? Perhaps I could look around a bit myself and help you out.
OK, I created a wiki on EditThis.info called Shadow Realm. It is a private wiki (to protect the publication rights) so the only way on is for me to create an account for you. Send me a private message (PM) and I'll set you up.
Be forewarned: the wiki is new; there is nothing there.
What info do you need from me to setup an account on the site?
Cool. Went to the page, looks like a nice blank slate ready for us to use.
What other technical...things, do we need to address before we launch into creating this world?
Oh, well, that's good to know. No other technical stuff, that is.
As for categories, I have spent a bit of time thinking about that while you were searching around for a site for us to use. Thank you, by the way! The effort you've put in to finding this for us, I appreciate it.
Since its a wiki, I thought we should do categories such as World, Races, Nations, etc. What do you think?
Ok, I think I'm growing more accustomed to EditThis.info. That link you gave me, Goldhawk, is helping. Thanks.
I put some questions up on our Community Portal page, should check them out. Also, I should probably let you know that I've now got a bit more time on my hands than I used to. So if I make a lot of replies or something, feel free to change stuff cause I'm just really bored.
Hey guys,
I just found this site today. And, I just read about your cool idea for a brand new world. I think it is kewl. In fact, if you look in this same forum, you'll see that I had a similar idea.

Anyway, my idea is different enough from yours that they wouldn't really work hand in hand. I'm still interested in my idea, but I may hold off to help you work on yours ... if you'll have me.
I had no idea of how to do it, so working with you will strengthen my writing skills as well as give me some ideas for building my world. And, if yall want to help me with mine later ... that would be cool.
I know it was mentioned to send PM for invite to the wiki. Well, no since in wasting a PM if I can ask here. It was mentioned that all you need is a username. Do I pick that? The forum username? Tell me what I need to do. If you pick it, you can use "marcuslee" ... that's the one I use for everything.
Look forward to working with yall on this.
Mark
Well, no ... when you put it that way.
I couldn't access that. Do I need to have a certain number of posts? Or, an admin activate it or something? Please check your User CP and make sure you can receive PMs.
In case you want to send it to my email address, its msl_007{AT}live{DOT}com
