Man pilots giant lobster in Maine, or maybe Alaska

I read this book when i was a kid, about a guy in a small fishing village who raises ever larger lobsters and then climbs inside and pilots them ultimately planning on killing a bunch of people. I remember really liking it, but then again I was probably maybe 10, so who knows if its any good?
has anyone heard of this book or have any info on a title or maybe an author to look into? thanks for any help
