Delmont-Ross award??
Hello folks,
Just wanted to inquire about this. Has anyone heard anything about this award? I came accross it whilst surfing the web this morning and never heard of it meself. It states that the award is now in its third year, though I seem to have missed the first two. Can anyone tell me who the previous two winners were, and any information on the newest winner, Allen, or somesuch?
thanks,
Morgenes

It looks like a bogus award
All of the original PR for Mitchell Graham's 'The Fifth Ring' in 2003 noted that the book was 'submitted to the prestigious Delmont-Ross Literary Contest and was awarded the gold medal in fantasy and the overall grand prize.'
If you google 'Delmont-Ross Literary Foundation' the overwhelmng references to it are only related to the Fifth Ring. There is nothing about any other winners before or after 2003. There is no web page or submission info available. In short, it looks like a cheap PR stunt somebody cooked up.
The Writer Beware page (http://www.sfwa.org/beware/general.html) at the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America states
Delmont-Ross Literary Contest
Writer Beware has recently received inquiries about the Delmont-Ross Literary Contest. We've attempted to research this contest, and can locate no contest rules or guidelines, no calls for submissions, no list of current or previous winners (apart from a single individual), and no valid contact address. Nor have we been able to find information on the contest's sponsor, the Delmont-Ross Foundation, or evidence of claimed co-sponsorship with Merrill Lynch and Borders. In our judgment, this is not an active contest.
