    'Wear' can I find this?

Somewhere out there is a short story. Possibly with romantic leanings. Set in a world where peoples clothes are their cars. Cars are worn. You can buy new cars in stores in the same way you might buy a new outfit. To be seen out of your car is like being naked.

The way the story is written doesn't give the impression of the car/clothes being big and bulky. They are treated exactly like clothes.

It was probably in a collection..... obviously........

    Any ideas?

Probably not what you are looking for, but a clothes-related novel by Barrington Bayley is 'The Garments of Caean'.

Why is it that every time I read a story description like this I am immediately convinced Philip K Dick wrote it?

Thanks Uglemor. At least I wasn't dreaming.
