Baen is publishing, The Monster Hunters by by Larry Correia, an omnibus of the first three books in that series. The hardcover will be $24 (USD) while the E-version is only $6USD. Yes, $6USD for three novels.

(note, I posted this in the Discounted E-Books thread, too)

Wow, that's got to be a huge omnibus. Each of those novels is pretty meaty on its own.

Almost a Gary Stu, but I'm being pulled along for the ride and enjoying it so far.

Right...two years later. just about ALL of the books Baen publishes are available as eBooks in EVERY format, you just have to buy direct from Baen. This is a good thing since often (at least the books I've bought for my Kindle) have been a good deal cheaper than most eBooks would be through amazon.com.

As for Monster Hunter International...there is just so much that should be wrong about this book Blatant Gary Stu, Blatant Wish Fulfillment, Blatant Deus Ex Machina, Blatant Predictability...but

    but

    BUT

I couldn't help but have a blast reading the book. I think BECAUSE of those elements and Correia's unabashed embracing of all the OVER THE TOP CLICHE NONSUBTLETY I was able to look past (nay, maybe because of) a lot of those elements and enjoy the book.

I kept thinking of Jack Burton in Big Trouble in Little China and well, the everything of They Live..and the words Craptastically Wonderful come to mind. I mean Craptastically Wonderful as a good thing.

There's a cover quote if ever I saw one....

    'SFFWORLD:Craptastically Wonderful!'

(and in an Omnibus too, Pete.)

I think Mr. Correia would appreciate such a blurb.

Thanks for the tip - picked up the omnibus from Baen and just finished the first book. Can't add anything to the comments above - not great writing (a little worse that the first Dresden) but fun and a quick page turner. Looking forward to the next two. I will say, though, that this made me nostalgic enough for Dresden that I'm going to go back and read that series again.

I've enjoyed all the books, but I have to say I enjoyed Alpha a great deal more than the others probably because of the books respective protagonists. Alpha also felt more constrained, in a good way, smaller scale and yet more epic because of it.
