Thread: Dresden Files Anonymous

I feel, this was a piece of the puzzle that kept Harry humble. No matter how many bad guys he whooped up on, he always had to come home and worry about paying the bills.
That's an interesting point, because several beings (the Fallen, some spirits) mentioned that there is a reason Dresden keeps himself poor and lives so spartan. They say it is a reason even he doesn't consciously know. If that is missing, will the personality trait come out in some other way? Or will he live on Earth? The old Summer Knight did. I'm wondering if he will still be on the White Council.

As far as ties go, don't forget his daughter. And his brother.

Butcher has said that Changes, Ghost Story and Cold Days represent a trilogy within the series and I'm guessing that one of the purposes of that is to smash the status quo, cause Harry to reflect upon it, and then forge a new one.

Harry's changing, and so are many of the people and institutions around him. Bob may be gone, or changed, or stay with Butters. Mouse may be unavailable now that he's little Maggie's primary defense. He may well be closer to Mort, but I see the potential for a lot of distance with Murphy. He was counting on someone like Ebenezar to take care of Molly, which didn't happen. That could create some distance there.

But at the same time, it was shown to Harry on multiple levels how important it can be to exhibit his humanity. He's seen first hand how bad many of the "little" people (such as those from the Paranet) have it now. And he saw what compassion could accomplish with Fitz.

There's no question that almost all of his relationships, both personal and not, have changed and there are lots of questions to answer such as "What will the White Council and many of his allies and enemies think of him now that he did the unthinkable and destroyed the Red Court, died and then was resurrected (as far as they know) as the new Winter Knight"? Harry wasn't even aware of how big his own rep before this, imagine what it will be like now.

I think that in some ways he will have more empathy and compassion than ever, but it will be interesting to see how all the different relationships fall out, and think that some of them will be strained and possibly even broken.
