Looking for 2 worlds, one dying
I am Fantasy Fanatic but would like to read more SciFi. A couple years back I was searching for some SciFi and extracted a list of potential candidates from this site. Since then I have lost my list. It is driving me insane that I can't find one specific book that struck my interest. It was briefly discussed on of the years best threads. Knowing that you would think I could find it, alas no. It's about 2 worlds that are near each other and one of them is dying. I believe they send someone to the dying planet either to find out why or to help whomever is on it.

Sure it's not When Worlds Collide by Philip Wylie?
Or possibly Nemesis by Isaac Asimov?
Hobbit

OMG I think that's it. Thank you very much.
I'm having a hard time finding any SciFi that interests me. Do you know any others that are similar? I read "The Entire and the Rose" and I thought that series was incredible. My opinion may be skewed since I'm new to the Genre and the auditor of series was incredible.

Larry Niven's "The Integral Trees" is good for the shear inventiveness of the world.
Isaac Asimov's "Nemesis" and "The Gods Themselves" are very good books.
I am very partial to C J Cherryh's works "Forty Thousand in Ghenna", "Down Below Station", "Chaunur Series"
