Yes. And Wilt Chamberlain, who as an actor is a fine basketball player.
I watched Source Code last week (which I definitely recommend), and I saw a trailer for Conan the Barbarian. I'm a big fan of the original Robert Howard Conan and even bigger fan of the Robert Jordan version. As soon as I saw the trailer, I was immediately hooked in. I don't know if it will be any good, but I'll be watching.

For those who didn't know: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUqP35FjbWEbut didn't bring back "Anvil of Crom" (perhaps one of the greatest signature tunes of all time)?

Do you reckon we'll see less of his backside in Conan? He seems to quite like showing it in Game of Thrones?
That said, what I've seen of him in Game of Thrones makes me think he'll be a good Conan.

I'm starting to think this might be quite good! Certainly feeling the tone is more like the books and less Arnie-like: definitely more Lovecraftian, which must be good....

Same here. I think Werthead said on his blog that he thinks it looks campy, but I'll admit I think campy isn't bad. We've had a lot of very serious films and shows with fantastical, or sci-fi, elements recently, so something a little less restrained might just do the trick.
I'm looking forward to seeing it, though.
I'm not liking all the sound effects (sword swishing, elephants trumpeting when there is nary an elephant in site, and heavy metal music. Hopefully this is limited to the trailer. Very "300" clonish and I'm getting a bad Spartacus: Blood and Sand premonition.) and all the exaggerated flips and movements. A big uh-oh. And Momoa's delivery of lines is not exactly thespian magnificence.
On the plus side; the sets, costumes, and effects look amazing and the dustmen sorcery looks great. And that chick's hair rocks.![]()

Frankly, I'll be happy if we get a cheesy romp on par with Sword and the Sorcerer or even Beastmaster.
I only hope it's as hammy as the original. That's what made it awesome.
And yes, the theme was great.
Want to watch the first three minutes of the new movie?
(NB: Quite messy - not for the squeamish.)

I am beginning to be won over (though some that Perlman dialogue is still a little cringeworthy.) I like the look of this one.... am quite looking forward to it.

Jawesome. Totally jawesome.
I finally watched that clip. It looks absolutely brilliant! Perlman should be pretty good, or at least I hope so.
I think Momoa is the actor fantasy needs. Aside from his tough-guy build, I think he's got the right sort of attitude for it. Here's hopin'!
